Raku Bird/Animal Head Course

£25.00£75.00

Description

RAKU is amazing!  The colours of the glaze with added metallics and the amazing crazing and spots of the smoke… Have you seen Raku firings?  It is such an exciting and fascinating process and you can be part of it!!

In this course you will first come to a Thursday night clay club on 3rd April and learn to sculpt an animal or bird head which can be hung on a wall or displayed on a shelf.  You will be taught hand building and sculpting of clay during the evening, along with refreshments.

Your creations will be dried and bisque fired ready for Raku firing on 11th May.  You will then come back on another Thursday evening to prep your creation for the glaze/raku firing (last date to do this is 8th May).  You are then very welcome to come along to watch or even assist in the firing on 11th May (time TBC), but if you cannot make this date we will fire your pieces for you.  If you come along, you can then take your pieces away with you that day.  Please note that the firing date maybe moved if the weather is raining or very windy.

£65 per person which includes 3 workshop sessions (main making, raku glaze painting and raku firing itself),  all materials, two firings, raku glaze plus refreshments. . (Aprons are provided but please wear appropriate clothing including closed toe shoes and long trousers/sleeves for the firing and take off any jewellery as clay can be very messy.)
