Description
Use the techniques of wet felting, along with hand embroidery to create a bowl/pod that you can then turn into a bag, hat or keep as a decorative bowl. You can also add embellishments and other textiles to really make this creation your own.
In this wet felting workshop students will learn the basic technique of creating felted fabric from wool roving (unspun sheep’s wool). Over the session we will cover the theory of felting, the equipment needed, choosing and laying the wool roving, and finally the techniques used for felting and fulling the piece. Through this workshop you will gain the skills necessary to wet felt by yourself at home. This workshop is a different technique to our Landscape wet felted workshop as it involves making a 3D object around a form.
You will:
– Learn a little about the felting properties of different types of wool fibres.
– You will understand the felt making process.
– You will introduce simple elements of pattern, colour and design into your felt making using the wet felt and needle felt methods.
– You will learn how to add texture and incorporate found objects to create interest and add to your design.
– We will use hand embroidery to embellish if you wish.
You will finish with a beautifully decorated bowl/pod.
Refreshments will be provided as well as all materials.
